El Hogar Medical Mission 2019 - Day 5
El Hogar Medical Mission Trip
The Annual El Hogar Medical Mission Team from the U.S. and Canada is in Honduras this week (February 15-22). The Rev. Melanie W. J. Slane, Redeemer's Associate for Liturgy and Mission, has agreed to blog and send pictures to document the team's experience. This is Melanie's first trip to El Hogar.
Be sure to read her blog posts, as well.
This year marks a historic year at El Hogar, as young women join the student body at ITSM for the first time. These young women are a beautiful example of inclusion and determination, as they pave the way for those who follow in their footsteps.
The grounds of ITSM are beautifully maintained by students and staff and are ever-expanding on a property where at one time stood only a summer Hacienda of a well-to-do doctor.
The students are amazingly talented with a blow-torch and have created gates, benches, and art that adorns the campus.
After 10 hours away from the city, we returned to the main campus where we read Compline and promptly fell asleep. It was a long and beautiful day, and we all rested well knowing that these children are receiving loving care, an amazing education, and training in skills that will benefit their community for years to come.
Grace & Peace,
Melanie
