Keeping Watch
Keeping Watch
Maundy Thursday - Good Friday
April 1-2
9:00 pm - 12:00 pm
via Zoom
Following the stripping of the altar at the end of the Maundy Thursday worship service at Church of the Redeemer, traditionally an informal procession with the reserved sacrament would take place to the Oratory, where it would remain until the next day. Parishioners would then take shifts staying with the reserved sacrament until the distribution of same the next day.
As we are all at home this year, we have adapted the experience so that this we may still offer this opportunity for silent meditation, devotional reading, and prayer while keeping watch with Jesus in his final hours. We ask that you still sign up (using the button below) for one or more hour shifts throughout the night and into the next day. When your shift arrives, find a sacred space at home, light a candle, log-in to the Zoom call, and begin keeping watch. Please note who has preceded you on the list and who will follow you and include them in your prayers.
Please contact Anny Stevens-Gleason, Minister for Worship and Incorporation, if you have any questions.
