Second Half Speaker Event
"Pilgrimage & the Incarnation"
featuring Dr. Gillian Ahlgren

Can a pilgrimage to Assisi provide light for our times? The tradition of pilgrimage--taking time away from the norms of daily life in order to engage a more intentional search for God in one's life--has a long history in Christian spirituality. What happens when that pilgrimage is enriched by an enlightening journey into the inner lives of visionary figures who contributed indelibly to our understanding of the presence of God in everyday life? Experience a vicarious pilgrimage to Assisi in the footsteps of Francis and Clare, with a poignant stop at Greccio, where Francis created Christianity's first live nativity in 1224. Francis deeply wanted all people to experience the reality of God-with-us that Advent and Christmas invite us to know. In our challenging times, the reality that God continues to be an intrinsic part of the human story is easily lost. But the lives of Francis and Clare remind us how to journey together in light and love. This conversation will be supported by a rich array of photographs from Assisi, in the footsteps of Francis and Clare, two of Christianity's great ambassadors of peace. Join us virtually on Sunday, December 13, 6:00 pm.
