Rector's Blog: Equipping the Sent - A Financial Commitment for 2022
This blog is also available as a podcast
“Sent into the world, rooted and grounded in love, to serve all people with humility, compassion, and faithfulness.”
As we emerge out of the isolation we have experienced, this portion of our Vision Statement reminds us that we are not simply trying to get back into the world or “back” to church – but that we move with purpose in the world. We are sent to love and serve the world God has redeemed. We have gotten through such difficulty together. We are moving forward together. We are building something; rooted and grounded in the love of Jesus.
Last year many of you made a commitment to Church of the Redeemer in the midst of the pandemic, unsure of how long it would last, unsure of what our programming would look like in 2021, unsure of when we’d be back together in person. But you made that commitment because you believed in Church of the Redeemer. During an impossible time, you saw your community rally to provide safe and meaningful pastoral care, consistent connection, engaging education, and dynamic, Spirit-filled worship.
I am so proud of this church, of the creative, faithful work you’ve all done. We have been worshiping in person consistently since the early Spring, and have been back in the building since May. Last month we returned to four worship services on Sundays and our Wednesday Evening Eucharist – along with some of the most exciting ministry offerings I’ve seen in my time here. We are seeing new people in worship every week, and our digital reach is larger than it has ever been.
You made this possible. Your financial commitment, grounded in the love relationship between you and God as lived out in beloved community, changes you, it changes your church, and it unites us to one another. When you add this all up, it points to a very simple reality: Your money is inextricably connected to your spiritual life. As we prepare our budget for 2022, I ask you to participate in the spiritual discipline of making a commitment to your church for the next year.
If you have any questions about giving, please reach out to me. I will always be ready to talk with you about money and the Church because I will always be ready to support you in your spiritual life, your heart and soul; your life in Christ.
Lastly, I want to encourage you to reflect on our Vision Statement and consider how you can help Church of the Redeemer make this vision a reality. Are you able to increase in your annual commitment this year? Have you found us online and are able to make a commitment to Church of the Redeemer as your worshiping community? If so, please visit our Giving page to pledge now.
