Rise & Shine, October 13th
The Rise and Shine discussion group meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in the Parlor. Adults from the 8:00 & 10:00 services gather for discussions that are relevant to their lives through the lens of a current topic and scriptural references. This week's discussion outline can be read or downloaded below.
This week special guest Nancy Sullivan joins us to look at local immigration issues in Cincinnati, and what it looks like for us to welcome the stranger.
Nancy is the Director of Transformations CDC, a 501c(3) organization based in Cincinnati, OH. Transformations works primarily with immigrants and US-born children of immigrants in activities ranging from after-school tutoring to adult ESL and health programs to legal and public advocacy, public education and assistance to individuals needing transportation, interpreting, etc.
Their Mission: Build bridges to recovery, restoration, and self-reliance for persons who have struggled to survive; Overcome the legacy of slavery, prejudice and racism; Find ways out of oppressive poverty; Strengthen families and households, Nurture and support children; Restore community; and Connect people with spiritual power.
