Social Media Sunday
Witness to your faith on Social Media Sunday!
Have you ever done any of the following on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram:
- Posted a comment about a terrific book you just read?
- Shared a link to an article you found helpful or meaningful?
- Posted a comment about a great movie, play, or concert you just attended, and tagged the theater or concert venue in your post?
- Posted a photo of a delicious-looking dish you've just been served at a restaurant and tagged the restaurant in your post?
All these posts share with your friends something about who you are and what’s important to you. If being a Christian, an Episcopalian, a member of Church of the Redeemer is part of who you are and something that is important to you, have you considered posting on social media about your experiences when you attend church?
On Sunday, September 29, 2019 – ”Social Media Sunday” – Episcopalians across the country are being asked to do exactly that. The idea is elegant in its simplicity: if even a minority of the Episcopalians who use social media all post about their churches on that date, millions of our friends and family will learn something about The Episcopal Church. It's evangelism going viral!
To participate on Social Media Sunday, all you need to do is:
- Post something brief that Sunday about an aspect of the worship service that speaks to you. This can be a status update, an evocative quote from the sermon or a photo or even – if you’re ambitious – a short video.
- Make sure you include the hashtags #SMS2019, #InspiredRedeemer, #Episcopal. If possible, use the Location icon to tag Church of the Redeemer in your post as well.
- If you’d prefer not to use your device during the worship service, post before or after. A status update or tweet that says something like “Off to worship at #EpiscopalChurchoftheRedeemer” or “Went to #EpiscopalChurchoftheRedeemer this morning, the music/sermon/fellowship was inspiring” will do just fine. Just let your friends know you went to church!
