The Gospel & Race - Youth Lenten Study (Grades 9 - 12)
The Gospel & Race Lenten Study
Connecting the practices of Lent & Anti-Racism
CoR Youth Room | Sunday Nights from March 6 - April 10 | 6pm-7:30pm
High school students are invited to join us for food and conversation as we utilize the resource from The General Commission on Religion and Race, the study will explore connections between the traditions of Lent and the work of anti-racism. This study has been created with the faith-filled assumption that when we take seriously our Lenten traditions and what is necessary for the work of anti-racism, we find the two complement each other, not compete. We will offer a Zoom option for those who desire that!
God’s heart breaks at the brokenness in this world. Racism demeans, denigrates, and destroys the gift of life and the image of God in all of us. For Christians, the work of being anti-racist personally and institutionally is a sign of our commitment to see and affirm the image of God in every person and in all people. It is our choice to live in the power of God’s work of resurrection and reconciliation.
