Station 10: Jesus is stripped of his clothes
Find Station #10: Top of Erie steps
Prayer
Reader: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
All: Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
Reading
We’ve come to Golgotha, the place where the Romans crucify criminals. Jesus will die here. The soldiers take his clothes. They seem more interested in them than in him and they throw dice to see who gets his robe. Jesus waits.
Activity on the Church Grounds
For families: Go to the top of the steps at the front of the church. If you are wearing a jacket, take it off for a moment. I wonder how it feels to be without your coat on a cold or windy day. Has there been a time when you were without something you needed, or something that brings you comfort, like a toy or blanket?
For adults: Lord God, whose blessed Son our Savior gave his body to be whipped and his face to be spit upon: Give us grace to accept joyfully the sufferings of the present time, confident of the glory that shall be revealed; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Activity at Home
For all: Read Jesus is stripped of his garments from Earnest Illustrations by Earnest Graham.
