Station 2: Jesus accepts his cross
Find Station #2: Bench on front porch facing crosses in window
Prayer
Reader: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
All: Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
Reading
Jesus watches the soldiers bring out the cross for him to carry. It looks so heavy. How can one man carry it alone? But he puts the wood across his shoulders and bends over with the weight and pain. It hurts me to watch him hurt.
Activity on the Church Grounds
For families: Point to the first cross you see. How many crosses can you find from this spot? Which cross is the biggest? I wonder how Jesus felt carrying something so large and so heavy.
For adults: Grant us patience, O Lord, to follow the road you have taken. Let our confidence not rest in our own understanding but in your guiding hand; let our desires not be for our own comfort, but for the joy of your kingdom; for your cross is our hope and our joy now and unto the day of eternity. Amen.
Activity at Home
For all: Read Jesus takes up his cross from Earnest Illustrations by Earnest Graham.
