Station 4: Jesus meets his mother
Find Station #4: Preschool drop-off (portico at back of church)
Prayer
Reader: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
All: Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
Reading
Here is Mary of Nazareth, reaching out to her son. She looks so very sad to see Jesus like this. Why isn’t she angry at the people who are hurting him? Why can’t she stop them from doing this? My mother holds my hand very tightly.
Activity on the Church Grounds
For families: Look for the windows with drawings by preschoolers. Here is where kids are dropped off for preschool, and each day they are picked up to go home. I wonder how you feel when you see your loved ones after being away from them for a short time or a long time. How do you think Jesus felt seeing his mother Mary?
For adults: O God, who willed that in the passion of your Son a sword of grief should pierce the soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary his mother: Mercifully grant that your Church, having shared with her in his passion, may be made worthy to share in the joys of his resurrection; who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
Activity at Home
For all: Read Jesus meets his afflicted mother from Earnest Illustrations by Dixon Kinser and Earnest Graham.
