Frederick Robert ToeWater
May 1, 2026- March 1, 1945
A recent dent in a Chalace required its repair and refurbishing at Wei bold Repair and Restoration prompting a review of this memorial to Redeemer by the family of Frederick Robert Toe Water {Bob).
Bob, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. ToeWater, a prominent Cincinnati family and members of Redeemer, tragically died at the young age of 18 at a hospital in Luxembourg, following injuries received during a battle against German forces in World War II. He is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Bob was confirmed at Redeemer in 1939 and served for several years as an Acolyte prior to entering military service. In his memory, family members donated this beautiful chalice along with a patin, bread box and a finely designed book rest for the Altar. The family also made a substantial contribution towards the construction of Redeemer at its present location at the corner of Erie and Paxton.
Bob’s tragic and untimely death in World War II, is a reminder of the suffering among many families during the second world war and its impact upon this Redeemer family. May we reflect upon Bob and the millions of other families with similar stories to tell this Memorial Day.
Thank you to Elizabeth Grover for her research about Bob and the Toe Water family.
