Join Second Half of Life on Sunday, March 8 at 6:00 pm.
We’ll start with a potluck dinner at 6:00 pm in the Great Hall so bring a dish to share and your own drinks.
After dinner, around 7:00PM, our very own Steve Peterson (Ph.D. MBA) will deliver his interesting presentation: “Out of Africa: 21 Years of Reforming Government Financial Systems” in the parlor. Why on a Sunday night you might ask? Since this potluck occurs during Lent, one of our priests assured us whatever you might be giving up for Lent won’t matter since the Sundays during Lent don’t count as part of the official 40 days of Lent.
Steve will share with us the lessons he found as an advisor to governments in Africa. The 12-year $34 million reform in Ethiopia succeeded in good part from the exemplary support of USAID. Steve developed two frameworks which he found useful in explaining why public financial reforms often fail and why some reforms succeed. Steve would be interested to hear from the group if the frameworks resonate with your work experience.
This program will also be offered via Zoom. Registration will open soon.
