CoR After School Launch 2026-2027

What a great kickoff CoR After School has had as volunteers and staff welcomed students back for a new school year beginning on August 24th! With attendance increasing to about 100 students each day, it has been wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces. We’re so excited for all that this year has in store!

CoR After School is an affiliated program with Church of the Redeemer in Hyde Park that serves the needs of local teens. It was originally launched as an effort to provide a warm space for teens waiting to take the city bus during the winter months of the 2021-22 school year. From there, conversations began about other opportunities that could happen in partnership and collaboration with Church of the Redeemer and Clark Montessori. The goal is for these efforts to be supported not just by the church or school, but by other organizations and businesses in the area that share a commitment to helping teens be equipped and empowered in ways that will enable them to make a positive impact in their world now and in their future.

Today, CoR After School provides programs that focus on at least one of four areas: life skills, academic success, community service, and health and wellness. Students are welcome to participate in featured service opportunities and academic activities, including Theater Club, Café Crew, Chess Club, Digital Media and Marketing Club, ArtServe, tutoring, and homework help.

We operate from 3 pm – 5 pm Monday-Friday, providing a safe space of belonging where teens are accepted and empowered to be wholly who they are. Through these opportunities and connections, students can develop the resiliency and confidence necessary to be sent into the world.

Cor After School is also looking for adults age 20 and older to join the After School team and help build positive relationships with students throughout the school year. Volunteers will need to complete Safe Church training and a background check.
