Church of the Redeemer would like to welcome Ethan Neal as our new Assistant Minister for Worship and Organist.
Ethan is a multi-faceted musician and award-winning singer, conductor, composer, and organist based in Cincinnati. He actively performs and teaches as a baritone, organist, and choral conductor across the United States, bringing a unique blend of artistry and leadership to each of his roles. Ethan is dedicated to creating meaningful and inspiring music that brings joy and love to the communities he serves
Ethan serves as the Founding Artistic Director for the Artifex Ensemble, a professional choir based in Cincinnati, OH, with a commitment to innovative artistic experiences that highlight the distinct power of expression and communication that is inherent to the human voice. Known for his “attentive artistry” and “unique ability to connect with the deepest parts of the soul,” Ethan has collaborated with renowned ensembles, including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Spoleto Festival USA, Cincinnati Song Initiative, Lexington Philharmonic, Vocal Arts Ensemble Cincinnati, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas in Cincinnati, the Kentucky Bach Choir, the Cincinnati Opera, Kentucky Opera, Santa Fe Opera, recording ensemble Coro Volante, and the England-based professional choral ensemble, Gallicantus. Ethan’s recent engagements include conducting the world premiere of his Mass of the Angels in Dallas, TX, as well as performances as a Vocal Fellow with the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, performances with the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, and with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Philadelphia Symphonic Choir.
Currently, Ethan serves on the faculty of Thomas More University & the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, OH, a Teaching Artist at Cincinnati Opera, and is the Assistant Minister for Worship and Music at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Cincinnati. As an enthusiastic leader, he remains passionate about cultivating musical experiences that resonate deeply with his audiences, enhancing the musical landscape with his distinctive artistry and commitment to community.
Ethan holds degrees in Organ and Choral Music Education from the University of Kentucky and holds Master’s degrees in Choral Conducting and Voice Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).
