If you’re new to The Episcopal Church—or new to Church of the Redeemer—you may find yourself asking: What do these people believe? Why do they worship like this? What is my place here?
Being Episcopalian is a course designed to help you answer those questions while offering fertile ground for nurturing a relationship with God and laying a strong foundation for a life of Christian discipleship. We warmly invite anyone seeking a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ, the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, or the Episcopal tradition—or to all three—to consider joining this course.
Whether you’re exploring baptism, confirmation, or reception into the Episcopal Church or simply want to deepen your understanding and faith, this journey is for you. Though the class closely resembles a confirmation course, its purpose is broader: to help newcomers navigate the Church of the Redeemer community and the beauty and depth of the Episcopal way of following Jesus.
The course is open to both adults and youth, who will walk this journey together, sharing weekly meals and conversations, building community, and exploring the core beliefs, practices, and traditions of The Episcopal Church.
We’ll meet weekly for 8 weeks on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, beginning May 13, 2025. A light dinner will be served each week.
Anyone who worships here, joins a ministry, and contributes regularly is considered a Church of the Redeemer member. However, official membership in The Episcopal Church includes baptism—and for adults, confirmation or reception by a bishop. If you’re discerning any of those next steps, Being Episcopalian is highly recommended.
Finding your way in a new church—and a new tradition—can feel daunting. This course is here to guide and support you, and to connect you more deeply to the heart of Church of the Redeemer, The Episcopal Church, and to God. Come walk this journey of faith with us.
